My name is Jolien, but you can call me Joy. I come from a small town-city in Belgium, where life has taken me on a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs.

I'm on a journey towards a more authentic and fulfilling life, built on the foundation of healthy, open and honest relationships. 

This blog is my way of sharing inspiration and entertainment, as well as the things I've learned and practiced throughout my own quest for self-improvement.

Reflecting upon my life, I have undergone a profound transformation. I have strived to change my mindset and lifestyle in countless ways, each step bringing me closer to my ultimate goal of living more true to myself.

Letting go has been a recurring theme throughout my journey. It began with the loss of my father when I was just a child, followed by turbulent changes in my family dynamic. Emotional violence and aggression cast a dark cloud over our lives. However, amidst the chaos, my mother made the courageous decision to leave, sacrificing her own well-being for ours.

Navigating the storms of life, I found myself at boarding school during my early adolescence. I struggled to understand and process my emotions, feeling lost and disconnected from the world around me. There were moments when the weight of it all seemed unbearable, but I discovered solace by facing my deepest fears.

Each chapter of my life presented its own challenges, with each move breaking the fragile sense of home I had painstakingly built. And then, a heart-wrenching blow - my mother's diagnosis of cancer. Deep in my heart, I knew I had to prepare myself for the inevitable and say goodbye.

In the aftermath, I realized that, although I had learned and grown in significant ways, remnants of my past still haunted my present. Determined to break free from the chains that held me hostage, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery.

To this day, I continue to learn and grow, finding home within myself and learning to love and care for the person I am.
